SFC National Team Information!

To all SFC High Performance Program athletes,

Further to the publication and dissemination of the "SFC Athlete Selection Criteria - Major Games 2009-2012" on April 16, 2009 and to the receipt of further information that indicates a possible adjustment to the dates of the Championships of the Americas (CAT Championships), the High Performance Committee has resolved that:

Should the dates of the CAT Championships be postponed until December 2010 and the time between the Championships and the Commonwealth Games extended by a minimum of thirty (30) days, the High Performance Committee will reconsider its decisions pertaining to athlete selection and attendance. If the finalized CAT Championships schedule confirms that the events are separated by less than thirty (30) days, the original selection decisions will stand.

(Ref: Items 13 and 14 ‘SFC Athlete Selection Criteria - Major Games 2009-2012')

Also further to the publication and dissemination of the "SFC Athlete Selection Criteria - Major Games 2009-2012" and the need to establish a selection match for the 2010 ISSF World Championships 300m rifle events, the High Performance Committee has resolved that:

The trials for the 2010 ISSF World Championships 300m events will be conducted in conjunction with the USA 300m Championships either in September at Fort Benning, Georgia or at the 2010 US Spring Selection matches (dates/locations to be confirmed).

Youth Olympic Games Information

YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES ATHLETE QUALIFICATION

The Junior Sub-Committee has determined that athlete selection trials for Youth Olympic Games Qualification matches will be held at the 2009 Canadian National Pistol Championships July 30 - August 07 and at the 2009 Canadian National Rifle Championships August 07-16 in Calgary Alberta.

To be eligible to compete at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) and at all Qualification matches, athletes MUST have been born in 1992 or 1993.

Age-eligible male and female athletes will be selected to participate in the Air Rifle and Air Pistol events only.

The Junior Sub-Committee has determined that age-eligible competitors will be required to pay the $25 National Team fee to participate in athlete selection trials for Youth Olympic Games Qualification matches held during the 2009 National Rifle Championships and National Pistol Championships. As per the usual, athletes must be members in good standing of the SFC etc. etc. and fees must be paid in full prior to the commencement of any selection match.

Pending the results of the National Championships, up to three (3) athletes will be selected to participate at Qualification matches in men's and women's air rifle events (to a maximum of 6 athletes) AND in men's and women's air pistol events (to a maximum of 6 athletes).

To date, the Confederation of the Americas Championships in Guatemala March 25-28, 2010 has been confirmed by the ISSF as a YOG Qualification match. The SFC will consider sending selected athletes to the Winter Airgun Competition (Colorado Springs USA December 02-06, 2009) should this event also receive ISSF sanctioning as a Qualification match.

Until further notice, athlete participation in the Qualification matches will be on a self-funded basis. The SFC will provide a Team Coach and Manager to accompany and support athletes in attendance.

Detailed criteria to follow at a later date.
